Instructional Video: The Time Value of Money

Description: This self-produced instructional video was designed for high-school or college students taking an Introductory Finance class. It demonstrates Clark’s principles of effective e-learning including the multimedia, coherence, redundancy, and modality principles, as well as Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction. It was created using a variety of technology design and editing tools including Wondershare Filmora (video and audio editing software), Articulate Storyline (animation), Visme (icons and graphics), and and Microsoft PowerPoint (text, graphics, and animation).

Example 1: Using a variety of media to promote and enhance learning.
This video demonstrates Mayer’s principles of multimedia design, and effectively combines audio, animations, graphics, and text to support cognitive processes and transfer of learning.

Example 2: Using Animation
In this Winning the Lottery example, I use an animation to grab the learner’s attention, to describe a problem to solve, and to provide context for the instruction that lies ahead.
